Willa Jean Arney, age 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 10, 1935 in Beech Mountain, North Carolina to the late Ray 'Rod' Guy and Carrie Guy. In addition to her parents, Willa Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Ellis Arney. Willa Jean was a member of Baker's Gap Baptist Church of Mountain City, Tennessee. She was a supervisor at Burlington Industries until her retirement. She had also worked at Bike Industries in the sewing department. Willa Jean worked alongside her late husband raising cattle and tobacco. She could run a hay baler with the best of any other male farmer. Together over the years and as a couple, they operated small gas stations and country stores. She loved to do crafts and crocheting. Her main love was her family, especially her grandchildren and special little great granddaughter. Willa Jean loved everyone and was a kind, quiet and humble wife and mother. Willa Jean Is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Kathryn Arney; one daughter, Carol Arney, all of Mountain City, TN; granddaughter, Bridget Kleine and husband Sean of Mountain City, TN; grandsons: Jonathan Stout and wife Beulah, also of Mountain City, TN and Derik Stout and wife Tiffany of Charleston, SC and special blessing and great granddaughter, Amelia Stout of Charleston, SC. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Special music will be provided by Tony and Cheri Potter. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Mast Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Stout, Derik Stout, Sean Kleine, Travis Brown, Jordan Farthing and Marvin Arney. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Whitlock and Daniel Jones. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Staff of Mountain City Care Center and Johnson County Rescue Squad for all of their loving care and kindness. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 290 J. Hodge Road, Mountain City, TN 37683. The family of Willa Jean Arney has entrusted her services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
