Mabel Walker Jackson

Mrs. Mabel Walker Jackson of Dan River Church Road, South Boston, VA passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Meadowview Terrace in Clarkesville. She was born in Johnson County, TN on September 15, 1942 and was 72 years old. She was the daughter of the late Elmer Paul Walker and Lois McQueen Walker, who survives, and was married to James Melvin "Jimmy" Jackson, Jr. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church and was a former teacher with the Halifax County School System and the Southside Higher Education Center. Survivors include her husband James Melvin "Jimmy" Jackson Jr. of South Boston Her mother, Lois McQueen Walker of Shady Valley, TN Three sisters: Frances W. Booher and husband Harry of Hickory Tree, Bristol, TN Helen W. Forrester and husband Jim of Damascus, VA Donna W. Roark and husband Doug of Shady Valley, TN One brother, David Walker of Shady Valley, TN One sister-in-law, Luzi Walker of Shady Valley, TN One brother-in-law, Percy Jackson and wife Phyllis of South Boston She was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Walker A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Doug Gibson and Rev. Dr. Dennis Knight officiating. Her family will receive friends at Dan River Baptist Church on Saturday from 12:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM and other times at her home.
