Loved by all, Carrie Fay Mast, age 100, of Mountain City, TN, left her residence and was reunited in heaven with family and friends on April 10, 2015. She was a native of Johnson County. She was a member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church and faithfully attended Nelson Chapel Baptist Church for most of her life prior to her illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferd Mast; her mother, Hilda Johnson; a sister, Ruth Dunn, and two brothers: Glenn Johnson and Fred Dunn. Survivors include three daughters: Thelma Hammons and husband, Paul, Lois Atwood and husband, Earl, of Mountain City, TN and Gay Triplett of Johnson City, TN. Three sons: Carl Mast and wife Phyllis, Earl Mast and wife Arzella, and Ray Mast all of Mountain City, TN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Doug Hammons, Linda Thompson, Diana Wagner, Phil Mast, Deborah Aldridge, David Mast, Michael Mast, Elaine Greer, Chris Atwood, Carrie Osborne, Holly Johnson, and Stacy Triplett as well as 21 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Three sisters: Edna Fletcher, Pearl Jones, and Ethel Banks also survive. She enjoyed life to the fullest and always looked forward to taking trips, eating out at restaurants, and attending family meals and celebrations. She loved having company and cooking for family and friends. Her big Sunday morning breakfasts were a treat which included biscuits with hot blackberry jam and chocolate gravy. She loved her family and friends and always had kind words for all. The way she lived her life inspired everyone to be a better person. Throughout her life she found pleasure in working hard which included: babysitting, farming, gardening, canning, picking beans, making pine ropes, and working in restaurants. A celebration of life will be Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Richard Stout and Mike McNutt officiating. A graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Dunn Cemetery with Sam Icenhour and Chris Atwood officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Douglas Hammons, Michael Mast, Phil Mast, David Mast, Chris Atwood, Austin Mast, Caleb Aldridge and Scotty Tester. Music will be provided by great-grandchildren Caleb and Maggie Aldridge. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Care for the wonderful care and support given to their precious mother. A special thanks to Sue Ann Hawkins, Gail Miller, Karen Martin, Chaplain Ed Tolly, and Jewell Atwood. Friends may visit the residence at 1884 Forge Creek Road any time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carrie's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
