William David Mullis

William David Mullis, age 48, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on November 4, 1966 to Carolyn Eller and the late William Charles Mullis Jr. In addition to his biological father, William was preceded in death by a son, William Daniel Mullis, USAF, who passed away on May 13, 2012. David was a United States Veteran, having served seven years in the Army. He was a former deputy of the Johnson County Sheriff's Department and was an active employee of NECX, where he has worked for 20 years. He loved the outdoors and was a master craftsman. More than anything, David was a loving and dedicated father to his daughters. He was of the Baptist Faith. David is survived by his parents, Danny and Carolyn Eller; daughters, Angel Mullis and Jessica Mullis of Mountain City, TN; step-son, Christopher James of Boston, MA and their mother, Penny Mullis; mother of son, William Daniel, Janice Mullis Howell; sister, Chequita N. Meade of Alexandria, VA; brother, Kevin N. Mullis of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Gabriel, Chloe and Tyler; grandparents: Ethel Woods and Ruby Louise Eller, both of Mountain City, TN; nephew, John Meade; great nephew, Collin Meade; several aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles and cousins. Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Morefield and Pastor Michael Icenhour officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow the funeral at the Slemp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Willie Arnold, Tommy Eller, Ricky May, Ben May, Johnathan Meade, Lee Farley and Terry Slemp. Honorary pallbearers are Grant Howell, Rev. Russell Ward and Eric Meade.
