Carolyn Nelson

Carolyn Nelson, age 71, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, May 17, 2015 at her home. She was born on November 11, 1943 in Johnson County to the late Doran Lowe and Julita Pleasant Lowe. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Elaine Price; grandson, Christopher Proffitt, and son-in-law, Mike Hedrick. Prior to her health declining, Carolyn was very active. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and canning. She loved traveling, cooking and spending time with her family, especially grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor. She was a faithful member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Delores Hedrick, Kendra Nelson and fiancé Eddie Perkins and Sonya Proffitt; son Jeff Nelson and wife Angie; grandchildren: Jeffery, Jack, Erin, Laura, Jennifer, Jonathan, Josh, Justin, and Noah; step grandsons: Josh Cornett and Chris Hux; great grandchildren: Spencer, Delaney, Kylie, Jayden, Maci, Ava, Vail, Baby McNeill, Kaylee and Carter; special friends, Doug and Camilla Osborne and all of Carolyn's neighbors in the elderly building at Village Apartments. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastors Gary Hill and Richard Shepherd officiating. Graveside Service and burial will be conducted on 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 from Reece Memorial Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons and Allen McNeill and Bradley Sexton. Honorary pallbearers are men from Southside Freewill Baptist Church and Doug Osborne. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to special care giver, Mike Anderson and Staff of Fresenius Medical and Dialysis Center.
