(Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies. Proverb 31:10) Millicent Burton Stanbery, age 91, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Mountain City Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Raleigh Burton and Stella Reece Burton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stanbery was preceded in death by her brother, Lon Burton, two beloved granddaughters: Jackie and Christa Stanbery and her former husband of 63 years, Norman Stanbery. Mrs. Stanbery attended the Watauga Academy in Old Butler. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church of Butler, TN and later Bethel Baptist Church in the Doe Valley Community. She was a devout Christian and taught children's Sunday School for a combined total of over 52 years. Mrs. Stanbery is survived by four sons: Edward, Kyle, Bob, all of Mountain City, TN and Jerry Paul of Butler, TN: four grandsons, two granddaughters, five great granddaughters; one great grandson and one great-great granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow with Pastors Ray Greene and Derl McCloud officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Joshua Jarnigan. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19,2 015 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Stanbery's four sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Hall 3 Staff at Mountain City Care Center for their loving and gentle care.
