Roy Ray Snyder, age 93, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born on March 15, 1922 to the late Fred Robin Snyder and Maggie Elizabeth Phillips Snyder. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Hester Arnold Snyder; sons and daughter-in-law: Eddie Ray Snyder and his wife Rosie Snyder and Kelly Allen Snyder; son-in-law, Tom Peters sisters, Bess Lee Warren, Geneva Bentley and Georgia Perdue; brothers: Jake Snyder, David Snyder, Daniel J. Snyder and Charles Snyder. Roy was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II and earning 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was baptized in Temple Baptist Church of Michigan. Roy loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed baseball, gardening, fishing and hunting. When he wasn't working, Roy was always busy tinkering and making things. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Peters; daughter-in-law, Vickiey Snyder; grandchildren: Brandon Snyder, Amber Foster and husband Tony, Rebecca Baker and husband Johnathan, Tina Ziegler, Kelly Guinn, Jason Ward, Aaron Peters and wife Kelly; great grandchildren: Alexander Woodell Rachel Woodell, Megan Gwinn, Robert Gwinn, Brianna Ziegler, Carter Rock, Lillan Applegate, Kaitlyn Dole, Molly Peters, Jake Peters, Cody Jordan, Alyssa Hockman, Dillion Zulkowski, Scott Hockman; special friends and Roy's baseball watching buddy, Dean Arnold and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Charles Brooks officiating. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Arnold Cemetery and will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Brandon Snyder, Johnathan Baker, Jason Ward, Frankie Smith, Aaron Peters and Robert Gwinn. Honorary pallbearer is Sean Sexton.
