Ruth M. Dowell

Ruth Myrtle Dowell, age 86, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on April 17, 1929 to the late Clyde and Etha Dishman Stout. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Marlan Dowell; sister, Nora Jones; great grandson, Joseph Pierson. Ruth attended Walnut Grove Baptist Church and was a former member of Kennett Missionary Baptist Church of Kennett Square, PA. Prior to her declining health, Ruth loved to garden, can vegetables and work in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed playing bingo, traveling and visiting and shopping in Lancaster County, PA with her friends. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Linda Worth and husband Michael of Avondale, PA; son, Paul Trivette and wife Cindy of Mountain City, TN; brothers: Herman Stout and wife Ruby and Clyde Stout and wife Shelby, all of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Ralph Pierson, Joseph Worth, John Worth, Joshua Worth, Teresa Mousley and Stacy Trivette; great grandchildren: Megan Russo, Johnny and Cheyanne Worth, James Worth, Allysa Mousley, Al Mousley; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Worth, Mr. Tommy Wurth and Pastor Steven Spencer. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Worth, Joshua Worth, John Worth, Joe Worth, Tommy Wurth and Robbie Wurth. Honorary pallbearer is Marvin Fritts. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
