George William Nicholson

George William Nicholson, age 73, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born on June 2, 1942 to the late George Buford and Elsie Virginia Fogleman Nicholson. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a son, George William Nicholson Jr. George was a man of few words but had a cunning dry sense of humor. He was very easygoing and laid back. He enjoyed carpentry, playing the guitar and singing gospel music with his wife Rose. One of George's favorite hobbies was scrapbooking. He loved to scrapbook his favorite country singers and western movies. He was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God of Strasburg, VA. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Rose Nicholson; daughter, Belinda Armando and husband Scott of Chesapeake, VA; son, Kenneth Stacy Nicholson of Winchester, VA; sisters: Margaret Diane Smith and husband Karol Wayne Smith of Capon Bridge, W. VA; brother, Gary Kenneth Nicholson of Winchester ,VA; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special cat, Bootsie. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow and will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Mountain Home National VA Cemetery with Rev. Tom Prater officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard, who will also serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Bud' Scruggs, Karol Smith, Gary Kenneth Nicholson, Kenneth Icenhour, Kenneth Stacy Nicholson and Brian Shupe.
