Verta Greer

Verta Greer, age 99, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on April 4, 1916 to the late Charlie and Nancy Dowell. In addition to her parents, Verta was preceded in death by her husband Roby Greer; sisters Opal, Eula, Hazel and Virginia. Verta was a good Christian lady. She enjoyed attending church and singing. Verta was loved by all who met her. She attended Corinth Baptist Church. Verta is survived by her brothers J.W. Dowell and wife Ethel of Mountain City, Harold Dowell and wife Jean of Mountain City, Ralph Dowell of Wilmington, DE; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 9, 2015 3:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Morefield officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until the time of service. An entombment service will follow at the Sunset Mausoleum.
