Richard Smith, age 74, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at his residence. He was born on March 30, 1941 to the late Norman and Goldie Smith. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Smith Greenwell; sisters: Mary Roark and Isabell Norris. Richard owned and operated S & D Vinyl Siding for many years. He loved to sing and play the guitar. Richard was always tinkering and inventing various things. He was a United States Army Veteran. Richard is survived by his wife of 34 years, Wilma Campbell Smith; daughter, Tanya Mayes; step daughters: Elishia Forrester and Kimberly Smithmyer; sons, George Smith and wife Noleeka; sister, Nell Syndergaard; brother, Bill Smith and wife Mary Anne; grandchildren: Shelly Smithmyer, Jessica Forrester, Richard Forrester II, Jenna Gill, Jennifer Mays, Jonathan Elmore; great grandchildren: Lana Valencia and Jackson Gill; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Harvey White officiating. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow at the Smith Family Cemetery, Sink Valley Road, Butler, TN. Pallbearers are Jeff Tester, Richard Forrester II, George Roark, Bill Fletcher, Bill Church and Robert Smithmyer. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 187 Pierce Town Road, Butler, TN 37640. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com.
