Robert J.T. Lewis of Newark, Delaware passed away on Monday, August 31st, 2015 due to natural causes. He was 82 years old. Born on April, 16, 1933 in Mountain City, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Spencer and Bell (Smith) Lewis. He married Bonnie Mae Vanover on December 28th, 1956. In the 1950s, they moved to Newark, Delaware to find work. J.T., as many called him, became a machine operator with NVF Company and worked there for 45 years until he retired. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass/ gospel music, watching tv and western movies, and taking scenic county-side routes. J.T. is survived by his children: Peggy and Dean Reed of Bear, Delaware, Lois Lewis of Newark, Delaware, James and Roxanne Lewis of Symrna, Delaware, and Linda and Bill Hill of Thomasville, North Carolina; his brothers: William "Edgar" Lewis of Kirkwood, Delaware, John "J.C." and Shirley Lewis of Kirkwood, Delaware, and Robert "Glenn" Lewis of North Carolina; his sister: Bessie and Howard Brown of Mountain City, Tennessee. He has 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Spencer and Bell, his brothers: William, Roy, Fred, and Ralph, and his wife: Bonnie. Visitation will be held at Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S Church St, Mountain City, Tennessee on Monday, September 7th, 2015 from 10 am to 11:30 am. Services and committal will follow at the Lewis Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send to Mountain City Funeral Home.
