Phyllis Jean Widener Gentry, age 69, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on January 17, 1946 to the late James and Marie Kilby Widener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Widener. Jean was a member of State Line Baptist Church, where she was treasurer of the WMU and a former Sunday School Teacher. Jean is survived by her husband of 49 years, Derrell Gentry; daughter, Beverly and husband Freddie Carty; grandson, Andy Lewis and wife Brittany; granddaughter, Samantha Carty; great granddaughter, Harper Drew Lewis; sister, Donna Hawkins and husband Steve; brothers: Larry Widener and wife Cindy, Mickey Widener and wife Mary Kim; mother-in-law, Annis Gentry; sister-in-law, Phyllis Icenhour and husband Bill; uncle Coy Ray Kilby; aunts, Dorothy Kulin and Edna Bowling and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Icenhour officiating. Special music will be provided by the State Line Baptist Church Choir. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the State Line Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Van Neely, Josh Widener, Jeremy Widener, Steve Hawkins, Mike Lewis, David Pennington and Peanut Morefield. Honorary pallbearer is Stacy Greer. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 2152 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
