Glenn Edward Garr Glenn Edward Garr age 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his home. He was born June 20, 1936 in Johnson County, TN to the late William Clayton Garr and Mary Louannie Morefield Garr. In addition to his parents Glenn is preceded in death by an infant brother and by three brothers Ray Garr, Bert Garr and Bob Garr, brother-in-law Don McCoy. Glenn retired from the State of Maryland with 21 years of service and moved back to Mountain City and worked for the Johnson County Highway Dept. for 10 years. During Glenn's work he was fortunate to be able to operate Road Graders and even been able to visit and tour the heavy equipment manufacturer that build his graders. He enjoyed hunting especially coon hunting and just being outdoors. Glenn was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church for many of his 79 years. Glenn is survived by the love of his life Ellen Cassell Garr for 53 wonderful years, daughters; Terri Lewis and husband Steve of Mountain City, Roxanne Boyd and husband Marty of Shady Valley, sons; Jim Garr and wife Kathy and Rick Garr and wife Susan all of Mountain City, sister, Hazel McCoy of Church Hill, TN; brother Hansel Garr and wife Danford of Toughkenamon, PA; grandchildren: Stephanie Wells, Tamara Messer and husband Paul, Ashley Campbell and husband Brian, Glenda Hatley and husband Kevin, Erica Mackenzie Lytle and husband Nick, Brittany Garr and Emily Garr; several special great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews who loved and cared for Glenn and all of his loving Church family. The family will receive friends on Monday September 21, 2015 from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the Corinth Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Billy Morefield and Evangelist Sam Lawson to officiate. Music will be provided by the Church Choir. Graveside service will be Tuesday September 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Wesley Cemetery, pallbearers will be Randy Garr, Terry Garr, Marty Boyd, Jamie Thomas, Sam Thomas and Randy Thomas and honorary pallbearers are Jack, Joe and Jerry Sutherland, Terry Reece, Clark Ward and Paul Morrison. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Walters and staff, Amedisys home health and hospice staff and a very special thanks and appreciation to his nurses Amy and Hallie. The family will receive friends at the home 3587 Deer Run Rd., Mountain City, TN 37683.
