Elva E. Goddard, age 94, of Mountain City, Tennessee, met the angels at the gates of Heaven when she went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 27, 1921 to the late William E. and Addie Workman Lewis. In addition to her parents, Elva was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Gordon Murphy; her second husband, Wyla Goddard; son, Wyla Goddard, Jr.; son-in-law, Jim Leggett; sisters: Doris McCullough and Iva Wallace and brothers: George Lewis, Ed Lewis, and Ralph Lewis. Elva, known as Elvie, was a woman of pure faith who lived her life to love and serve her family and God. She loved reading her bible and spending time with those she loved -especially staying at the lake with her family and visiting with her special friend, Estelle. She will forever remain an irreplaceable light of love, as her kindness, sweetness, and passion for Christ continue to be an inspiration to those who knew her. She was a member of Tenth Street Baptist Church of Greenfield, Ohio and had attended Nelsons Chapel Baptist Church of Mountain City, TN and Rock Springs Baptist Church of Butler, TN. Elva is survived by her children: William O. Murphy and wife Betty, Kenneth L. Murphy and wife Janyce and Betty L. Leggett; daughter-in-law, Jean Goddard; brother, Charles E. Lewis and wife Gloria; grandchildren: Deborah Forrester, Donny Warren, Joe Anders and wife Kathryn, Jon Murphy, Jason Goddard and wife Lori; sisters-in-law, Doris Boggs, Margaret Murphy and Armina Winn; great grandchildren: Caitlin Anders, Lauren Anders, John Matallana, Amy Grindstaff, Kristi Forrester, Jonathan Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Jonah Goddard, and Jenna Goddard; six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home, Greenfield, OH, with Pastor Dennis Brewer officiating. Special music will be provided by Jeff and Debbie Lewis and Crystal Tobin. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Greenfield Cemetery, OH. Pallbearers will be Danny McCullough, Chuck McCullough, Rich Ellis, Jonathan Murphy, Patrick Murphy and Matthew Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are the Nurses and Staff of Amedisys. The family also wishes to convey a special thanks to the ladies of Hammons Chapel Church for their kindness.
