Hedwig Hedi' Franziska Icenhour, age 88, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 05, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 26, 1927 in Austria to the late Marie Oberdammer. In addition to her mother, Hedi was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clinton Icenhour; sons: Steven Michael Icenhour, Larry Wayne Icenhour and David Bryan Icenhour and daughter-in-law, Judy Lynn Icenhour. Hedi taught school in Salzburg, Austria prior to moving to the United States. She worked at Leco and Timberland Shoe Plant. She volunteered at the Mountain City Care Center and Church Clothes Closet. Her favorite leisure activity was crocheting. Hedi was very outgoing and loved to travel, especially to the beach where she could be found parasailing. Hedi was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had over 40 faithful years as the church secretary and was the director of the AWANA Sparks since its inception at Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include sons: Delmer Icenhour and wife Betty Jo, Roger Icenhour, Jimmy Spook' Icenhour and Rodney Icenhour; daughter-in-law, Judy Susie' Icenhour; grandchildren: Kevin Icenhour and fiancé Amanda, Michael Icenhour and wife Jennifer, Amy Icenhour, Randy Icenhour and Frank Icenhour; great grandchildren: Emilie Icenhour, Ethan Icenhour, Ella Kate Icenhour; her church family; many special nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Hedi's grandson, Pastor Michael Icenhour and Pastor Steven Spencer officiating. Special music will be provided by the Calvary Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 6:30 -8:30 prior to the service at the church. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Kevin Icenhour, Frank Icenhour, Randy Icenhour and Ethan Icenhour, Jack Eller, Cole Spencer, Blake Robinson and Weston Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are the Men of Calvary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the AWANA program at Calvary Baptist Church, 1288 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN 37683 or the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
