John Payne

John I. Payne John I. Payne, age 75, of 308 Willens Gap Road, Mountain City, TN passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Johnson County, TN on June 29, 1940 to the late Ulysses Payne and Lucille Ramsey Payne. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, six brothers, Ray Payne, Lawrence Payne, Walter Payne, Spencer Payne, Carl Payne, and Raymond Hammons, four sisters, Blanche Farmer, Mabel Simcox, Dessie Head, and June Hammons. He was a retired carpenter. He enjoyed going to the flea markets with his wife and sons, enjoyed working puzzles, and repairing watches after he became ill. Survivors includes his wife, Muriel Payne, two sons, Spencer Ray Payne and John Douglas Payne, one grandson Johnny Ray Payne, one great grandson Jayden Lynn Payne, two sisters, Betty Eller and Cora Mae Head Stout, several nieces and nephews. At John's request, there will be no public viewing just a private viewing for the immediate family. He will be laid to rest in the Farmer - Payne Cemetery in the Forge Creek community (Willens Gap) at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 with Minister Josh Giddings presiding. Pallbearers will be Walter Simcox, Eric Hammons, Bill Hammons, Mike Shupe, Gene Brown, and Ross Dowell. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Head and Wallace Lewis Friends may call at the residents at 308 Willens Gap Road in Mountain City at any time. Per John's request no flowers please.
