Samuel Edward 'Edd' Wood

 Samuel Edward “Edd” Wood, age 94, of Bristol, Tennessee, and formerly of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015.  He was born on February 17, 1921 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late Samuel Solomon and Martha “Callie” Bryant Wood.  In addition to his parents, Edd was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Martha Ann; two sisters:  Mae Creed and Gladys Walker and a brother, Archie Wood.   Edd retired from Burlington Industries in 1985.  He was an avid gardener and generously shared his produce with others.  He was a member and former elder of Mountain City Presbyterian Church.   Edd was a devoted family man and left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son-in-law, Ava and Harry Dresser of Bristol, TN and his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Tammy Woods of Liberty Hill, SC; brother, Jim Wood of Bear, Delaware; grandchildren:  Zachary Dresser and Rebekah Shaffer; great grandchildren:  Ava Grace Dresser and Rowen Shaffer; special cousin, Wayne Bryant and several nieces and nephews.   Funeral Service for Edd will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jim Swoager officiating.  Special music will be provided by Sherry Tester.  Graveside Service and Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends.  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, memorials in Edd’s memory may be made to the Amedisys Hospice, 116 Jack White Drive, Suite #6, Kingsport, TN 37664 or to the charity of your choice.   Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com.   The family of Edd Wood has entrusted his service to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
