Ocie Miller

 Ocie Wallace Greer Miller, age 103, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on December 3, 2015 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on May 28, 1912 to the late William and Annie Wallace. In addition to her parents, Ocie was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Homer Greer; her second husband, Loyd Miller; two sisters: Doris Wallace Garland (Russell) and Virgie Wallace Thomas (Mack); grandson, Craig Greer; daughter-in-law, Jo Greer; step-son, Leroy Miller (Ivalee); step son-in-laws; Max Roark and Clayton Greene; step great grandson, Lance Roark; niece, Margaret Ann Garland Greer (Carl) and nephew, Boyd Garland (Carolyn).   Ocie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and had many friends at church and relatives in the community. Ocie was a member of Elk Knob Baptist Church but attended First Baptist Church of Mountain City, Tennessee. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, cooking and reading her Bible. She loved her family dearly and considered all the nurses, doctors and residents at Mountain City Care Center her family.   Ocie is survived by one son, Meredith Greer (Carol) of LeDuc, Alberta, Canada; daughter, Nancy Greer Gibson (Ted) of Mountain City, TN; step-children: Geneva Miller Roark of Creston, NC, Juanita Miller Greene of Draper, VA, Evelena Miller Idol (Bob) of Boone, NC; Bernard Miller (Margaret) of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Lisa Greer Carter and Kent Greer, both of Prince George, BC, Canada, Mark Gibson (Stephanie) of Shelby, NC, Sabrina Gibson Spangler (Chuck) of Columbus, NC; step-grandchildren: Kyle Roark (Alicia), Deatte Roark Roten (Carroll), Anetta Roark Miller (Richard), Larry Greene (Susan), Bobby Lynn Idol (Allison), Michael Idol, Melissa Miller Payne (Robert), Tommy Miller (Dee), Ronny Miller (Kelly); great grandchildren: Ben and Marcia Littlechild, Ashley Gibson Yates, Andrew and Courtney Gibson, Chip, Luke, John Michael Spangler; 16 step great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews: Helen Thomas Leigh(Ron), Hilda Thomas Conville (Pat), Susie Garland Winebarger (JC), Harold Garland (Betty), Norman Garland (Judy), Donald Garland (Regina) and David Thomas (Sandra) and many special friends.Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ricky Campbell officiating. Special music will be provided by Phil and Wendy Arnold. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Sunset City Cemetery in Shelby, NC. Pallbearers will be Mark Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Chuck Spangler, Chip Spangler, Luke Spangler and John Michael Spangler. Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Stout, Farris Thomas, J.C. Winebarger, Pat Conville, Dick Grayson, Steven Spencer, Daniel Jones and Dr. John Whitlock.   Memorials in Ocie's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 421 W.
