Joe Clawson

Joe Clawson, age 81, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 05, 2016 at the Watauga Medical Center. He was the last of twelve children. Joe was born on May 21, 1934 to the late John Fate and Sara Hollyfield Clawson. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sons: Jody Clawson and Charles Lipford; sisters: Cindy Potter, Anna Mae Morgan, Iralee and infant sister, Lytha, and brothers: Zeak Clawson, Sammy Clawson, Brown Clawson, Jack Clawson, Randolph Clawson, Monroe Clawson and Jessee Clawson and special sister-in-law, Ella Mae Clawson.   Joe loved Bluegrass music and enjoyed going to local gatherings to listen to it. He also enjoyed roaming about, meeting people and striking up a conversation with just about anyone.   Joe is survived by his daughters: Donna Yelton and husband Robert and Glenda Lipford; sons: Glenn Lipford, Tommy Lipford and Richard Lipford; special grandchildren: Cody Yelton and Nichole Johnson; several more grandchildren; great grandchild, Mason Johnson; several nieces and nephews and his friends at Mountain City Care Center.   The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Special music will be provided by Joe’s son-in-law, Robert Yelton. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends of Joe. Honorary pallbearers are the Staff of Mountain City Care Center.   At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Joe’s niece, Cathy Clawson, 239 Applewood Private Lane (off of Furnace Creek) Mountain City, TN.   Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com.   The family of Joe Clawson has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
