Charlie Lyons

Charlie Lyons, age 75, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 1, 1940 to the late Reason and Nell Brooks Lyons.   Charlie was an avid outdoorsmen. He loved nature and being outside. He also enjoyed woodworking.   Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary Spicer-Lyons; children: Jeff Lyons of Ashe County, NC, John Lyons of Watauga County, NC, James Lyons of Ashe County, NC, Joe Lyons of Charleston, SC, Dean Spicer and fiancé, Carollee Spencer of Shady Valley, TN and Susie Brewer and husband Tommy of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Billy Officer and wife Jenna of Wilkes County, NC, Anthony Spicer and wife Elysia of Carter County, TN, Justin Lyons of Castle, VA, Tabitha Dollar and husband Andrew of Boone, NC, Nioka Curtis and husband Greg of Nashville, TN, Jacob Lyons of SC, Brady Spicer, Mason Spicer and Zane Spicer, all of Mountain City, TN and Hannah Greer of Shady Valley, TN; great grandchildren: Gary Curtis, Isabella Dollar and Malachi Lyons; several nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Freddie Stapleton officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Blevins Cemetery, Shady Valley, TN. Pallbearers will be Tommy Brewer, Donald Bryant, Mavan Lewis, Dakotya Douglas, Anthony Spicer and David Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Hutchins and Haskel McQueen.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.   At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 701 Winchester Road, Shady Valley, TN 37688   Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com.   The family of Charlie Lyons has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
