Joan Wills

  Carol Joan Wills, age 72, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at her home. She was born on May 7, 1943 to the late Dayton Smith and Helen Hensley Smith.      Joan grew up in the Millcreek Community of Smyth County, VA. She graduated from Liberty Hall High School in 1960. Joan moved to Mountain City and was a former employee of Mountain City Glove Plant and later worked for the Johnson County School System for many years as a substitute teacher and in the Kid's Country Child Care. She was a dedicated employee and had a love for children and enjoyed working with them.   Joan was member of Valley View United Methodist Church where she attended until she was unable due to her illness.   Joan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jimmy H. Wills; sons: Hal Wills of Mountain City, TN and Pat Wills and wife Lisa of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren:  Brad Wills, Alisha Kope, Cynthia Wills and Joseph Wills:  great grandchildren:  Jayleigh and Joanna Kope; sisters:  Gaye Whiteaker and Donna Eller and husband Larry of Mountain City, TN; brother, James Earl (Pete) Smith and wife Brenda of Lebanon, TN, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Sam Johnson officiating.  Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Carl Wiggins, Bill Gentry, Jake Lewis, Kevin Hayworth, Jim Payne, Tim Hensley, David Wilson and Brad Wills.   In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan's memory may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy 421 N.
