Patty Smith

    Patty Carolyn Smith, age 76, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016. She was born on June 27, 1939 to the late Bill and Chelsea Nelson Jones.  In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Faye Taylor Smith.   Patty loved to raise and work in her vegetable garden and took great pride in canning the vegetables from it. She also enjoyed flowers.   Patty had a wonderful personality and was one of those people that you felt that you had known all of your life after meeting her for the first time. She loved her family and friends very much but especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.   She was a member of Sawmill Creek Church of Christ.   Patty is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jimmy Smith; daughters: Lisa Potter and Sandy Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law:  Thelma and Jack Smith; Shirley and Alton Sluder, Margaret and Skip Wills and Helen and Steve Snyder; grandchildren:  Jordan Potter, Leandra Potter and Ethan Tester; great grandchildren:  Elliana Owens and Zachary Owens; several cousins, nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors.   The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Dickson officiating. Graveside Service and Interment be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Skip Wills, Jim McGinnis, Ted Smith, Jordan Potter, Ethan Tester and Jack Smith.  Honorary pallbearers are Alton Sluder, Jonathan Lewis, Micah Cretsinger, Larry Wilson, Bob Michaels and Mike Shupe.
