Miss Ina Mae Oliver

Miss. Ina Mae Oliver, age 100, of Creston passed away Thursday morning at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3PM at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 2-3PM at Boone Family Funeral Home. Miss. Oliver was born in Ashe County on June 4, 1915 to the late James and Ettie Pennington Oliver. After graduating from Appalachian State Teacher College in Boone, she taught for 42 years in Ashe County before she retired from Lansing School in 1977 where she was a special Education Teacher. She taught at Roaring Fork, Rash, and Laurel Hill Schools, where she often had to walk and ride horseback to teach. She also taught her nephew, Dale Greer, in fourth grade at Roaring Fork. She was a member of Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She is also preceded in death by one sister; Ruth Oliver, and two brothers; Ned Oliver and Fred Oliver; one great-niece, Amy Head. Miss. Oliver is survived by four nephews; Dale Greer and wife Sue of Kernersville, Charles Oliver and wife Wanda of Trade, TN, Kenneth Oliver and wife Debbie of Mountain City, and Jimmy Oliver and wife Jessica of Athens, GA, One niece; Jane Head and husband Kenneth of Mountain City, one great-niece; Lisa Eller, one great-nephew; Gary Greer, two great-great nieces; Lindsay Eller and Jacalyn Oliver, one great-great nephew; Jenson Oliver, and special loyal friends; Carl and Margie Farmer. Flowers accepted or memorial may be made to the Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union, 4693 Big Laurel Rd, Creston, NC 28615.
