Edith Clark Sluder

Edith Clark Miller Sluder, age 93, of Lenoir, North Carolina and formerly of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Caldwell Hospital. She was born on November 4, 1922 in West Virginia to the late William Armstrong Clark and Addie West Clark.  In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her first husband, William Frank Miller and second husband Lee Forest Sluder; daughter, Connie Sue Courtner; son, Richard Ray Miller; sister, Lucy Wanda Clark, and brothers:  William James Clark and Howard Roscoe Clark.    Edith loved to sew and especially loved quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables from the garden.  She was a very kind, caring and giving person, who cared for and loved her family deeply.   She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.   Edith is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Brownly; grandchildren: Angela, Dawn, Joseph, Isaac, Katie, Vickie, David, Lee, Christy, Jerome and Chris; great grandchildren:  Jody, Melvin, Michael, Brianna, Jacob,  Isaiah, Destiny, Cameron, Christasia and Little Annie; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews;   The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Woods officiating. Interment will follow from the Miller Cemetery, Lansing, NC.  Pallbearers will be Chris Mangum, Jerome Day, Isaac Courtner, and family and friends.   At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of a granddaughter, Angela Barnette, 4177 Smokey Creek Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.   Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com The family of Edith Clark Miller Sluder has entrusted her services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
