Earnest Paul Gentry

Earnest Paul Gentry     Earnest Paul Gentry, age 76, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on March 17, 1939 in Johnson County, TN to Dorothy Absher Gentry and the late Eugene Gentry.    Paul worked for Town of Mountain City as a police officer for 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking and was an outdoorsman and especially loved helping his son with his farming.  Paul was a true family man and loved spending time with them.  Paul was a member of the Dewey Christian Church.   He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shelby Nelson Gentry; his mother Dorothy Gentry, three daughters and son-in-law’s, Donna Cunningham and husband David of Panama City, FL; Karen Evans and husband Gary of Hendersonville, NC; and Janet Roark and husband James of Creston, NC; one son and daughter-in-law, Bud Gentry and wife Penny, grandchildren; David Cunningham, Jason Cunningham and wife Kara, Jaime Evans, Nathan Evans, Amber Eldreth and husband Jeremy and Austin Gentry, two great grandchildren, Evan and Emma Cunningham, sisters, Darlene Dunn and husband Larry of Mountain City; Janie Trivette and husband Brian of Sugar Grove, NC; brothers; Bobby Gentry and wife Betty, Burnice Gentry and wife Linda, Roger Gentry and wife Wanda all of Mountain City, several nieces, nephews and cousins.   Private family service will be held at 12:30 p.m. for immediate family prior to the receiving of friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with minister C.D. Bud Gentry officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Wilson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Wallace, Chris Reece, Matthew Lewis, Kyle Pierce, Charlie Brown, Kenny Grindstaff and Keith Gwinn.     Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group % of Flo Bellamy 3510 Hwy 421 N.
