John Reece

                                                                                                                                                   Johnny Glenn Reece, Sr., age 57, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on June 18, 1958 in Johnson County- Mountain City, TN to the late William Carl Reece and Frances M. Brookshire Reece. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by sister, Linda Winebarger, and nephew, Doug Baird. John was a hard worker and a talented carpenter and plumber. He had worked at Burlington Industries, Johnson County Highway Department and Appalachian Brian Estates. John enjoyed cookouts with his family, friends and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.  He was a collector of photographs and different memorabilia. He liked fishing, farming and old time wagon trains. John was always loved for his great sense of humor and showing a big smile.   John was no stranger to cancer as he was a devoted caregiver to his father-in-law and helped Rose care for her mom and step-dad in their battle with cancer. His family was there with him to show their love and support and to share good memories throughout his tough fight. John is survived by his three children:  John Reece, Jr., Chad Reece and wife Stephanie and Kayla Reece; grandchildren:  Aleela and Nyiah; sister, Carol Baird; three brothers:  Mike Reece and wife Temple, Jim Reece and Rick Reece; his fiancé, Rose Hammond; two nieces and two nephews; several great nieces and nephews and many cousins and special friends. A private family service will be held at11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Mountain City Funeral Home. Public graveside service will follow from the Stout Cemetery (located on Lumpkin Branch Rd.) with CD ‘Bud’ Gentry officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Larry Reece, Gary Reece, Jeff Reece, Jim Reece, P. Frank Arnold and Zack Hammond. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Reece. At other times, friends may call at the home of Dawn and Jamie Roberts, 144 Oak View St., Mountain City, TN 37683.
