Thomas Andrew Weatherford of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee passed away February 18, 2016 following a brief stay at Bristol Regional Hospital. Thomas was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on August 9, 1940. He was a 1958 graduate of Palm Beach High School and attended Palm Beach Junior College and Scarritt College (now Scarritt Bennett Center) in Nashville, Tennessee. Tom served in the Naval Reserves in 1958. He had strong work ethic and family values, beliefs he passed on to his two children. Tom was a long time employee of National Airlines in the 1960's and 1970's and a long time employee of Kmart from 1980 until his stroke in 1996. He was a lifetime member of the First District Fire Department of Laurel Bloomery. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church Mountain City. Prior to his stroke, Tom enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing, and singing or narrating for special services at church. He also enjoyed keeping in touch with his friends and family through email. They often looked forward to receiving weekly email jokes from him. Tom is survived by his wife Beverly; daughter Laura and husband Wade Latham of Roanoke, VA; son Joe and wife Leanne Weatherford of Ocilla, GA; grandchildren Alex and Kirsche Weatherford and Thomas Latham. He is also survived by his nephews Jim Weatherford and wife Jean Brooks and Bill Weatherford; niece Mary Weatherford; great-nieces and nephews Jennifer Weatherford, Julie Dietrich, Stephen Brooks and Alex Carpenter, Hannah Weatherford, Marc, Haley, and Todd Wallace; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents James Alexander and Edith Laura Weatherford and his three brothers James Alexander II, Charles Albert, and Richard Earl Weatherford. Services will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 3:00p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with visitation preceding at 2:00p.m. The Reverend Richie Hayes will officiate the service. Music is under the direction of Sherry Tester. Pallbearers are Paul Blevins, Paul Morrison, Philip Paul Gentry, Chris Galliher, Jason Blevins, Kevin Clauson, Van Neeley, and Bill Neeley. Honorary pallbearers are Tom's grandchildren, Alex Weatherford, Kirsche Weatherford, and Thomas Latham. Private Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
