Walter Romeo Buchanan, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Life Care Center of Elizabethton. He was born on April 13, 1928 to the late Dana Buchanan and Jestie and Mullins Buchanan. In addition to his parents, Romeo was preceded in death by sisters, Marilou Betty Buchanan and Linda Arnold and brothers: Joe Buchanan, Alvin Buchanan, John Buchanan and Tom Buchanan, and by his former wife, Violet Roberts Buchanan. Romeo was always busy doing something. He retired from the US Forestry Service and when he wasn’t working, you could find him playing horse shoes or rabbit hunting. Romeo was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Buchanan; sisters: Margie Bryant and Margaret Potter; brother, Raymond Buchanan; several cousins, nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Hartley officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Buchanan Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Romeo’s memory to the charity of your choice.
