Alfred Lance "Doughton' Mahala

Alfred Lance ‘Doughton’ Mahala, age 80, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Margate Health & Rehab Center of Jefferson, North Carolina. He was born on March 9, 1936 to the late Harrison and Vesta Roark Mahala.  In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Mahala and his son, Jerry Mahala and sisters:  Doll Oliver and Mary Trivette.   Alfred loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing. If he couldn’t be outside, Alfred enjoyed watching westerns on TV.  He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.   Alfred retired from Thomasville Furniture following over 30 years of service. He attended of Rock Creek Baptist Church.   He is survived by his daughters: Sherry Osborne and husband Randy and Addrena Mahala Clemens; sister, Norene Farley; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.   Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Rock Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Roark officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Roark Cemetery located on Rock Creek Road, Creston, NC.  Pallbearers will be Jordan Dixon, Lance Mahala, Matthew Clemens, John Clemens, Shane Mahala and Bruce Mahala.  Honorary pallbearers are Albert Oliver. Tommy Stephens, and Richard McElyea.  The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral Saturday at the church.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.   Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com.   The family of Alfred Lance ‘Doughton’ Mahala has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
