Glenn William Phillips, age 74, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on February 5, 1942 in Banner Elk, NC to the late Ira Spencer Phillips and Ella Fay Woodring Phillips. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Brown and brothers; Dale Phillips, Pete Phillips and Paul Allen Phillips. Glenn enjoyed playing rook with his friends and liked to be in the boat on the water as often as possible. Those who really knew him, also knew that he liked to dance and play horseshoes. He was a retired construction worker . Glenn was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Beech Valley Church. Glenn is survived by his wife of 25 years, Yvonne Phillips; step daughters, Debra Blevins and husband Mike of Butler, TN and Teresa Cole and husband Randy of Elizabethton, TN; step son, Roger Stanberry of Butler, TN; step grandchildren: Joey Cole of Elizabethton, TN, Michelle Walsh and husband Michael of Butler, TN, Matt Blevins and wife Ashley of Hampton, TN; step great grandchildren: Aaron Cole, Faith Walsh and Avery Blevins; several nieces and nephews and many other friends. A graveside service with military honors for Glenn will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Beech Valley Cemetery(off of Hwy 321 in NC on Buckeye Rd) with Pastor Lynn Hicks to officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Maurice Phillips, Ricky Phillips, Keith Brown, Ronnie Reece, Ken Reece, and Dave Reece.
