Shirley Shelton

Shirley Jean Shelton, age 78, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at her residence. She was born on July 18, 1937 to the late Dick Edward Ashley and Margie Ellen Spiva Ashley.  In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband John Henry Shelton; sons:  Ricky Shelton and Johnny Shelton; sisters:  Betty Pierce and Dorothy Garr; brothers:  Lewis Ashley, Freddy Ashley and Joe Ashley, and a grandchild, Brandy Main.   Shirley was a very outgoing person and was always busy doing something. She enjoyed jewelry, collecting pocket books, cooking, flower gardens, playing with her dog, Sally and watching westerns on TV.  She loved for her grandchildren to come and visit.  Her eyes would light up when they walked in the room.   She was a member of Liberty Christian Church.   Shirley is survived by her children: Debbie Roark and husband Robert, Lisa Mast and husband Michael, Tracie Shelton and fiancé Benjamin Pleasant, Kim Main and husband Dennis, Jeff Shelton and wife Amanda; sisters:  Thelma Phillips, Rosemary Click and Margaret Miller; daughter-in-law, Annette Shelton; seventeen grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her special dog, Sally; several cousins, nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Daniel Jones officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Phillippi Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Robert Shelton, Ricky Shelton, Jeremiah Main, Brian Shelton, Scott Orndoff, William McKinnis Jr. Keith Loggins and Daniel Cox.  Honorary pallbearers are Michael Mast, Robert Roark, Benjamin Pleasant, Daniel Jones.   The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to Daniel Jones, Joe Dean Ashley, Staff of Home Health and Mountain Sates Hospice for all of their wonderful care.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association | Donation Processing Center | PO Box 7000 | Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001   At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 460 Johnson Hollow Road, Mountain City.   Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com .
