Alex Snyder

Alex Snyder, age 94, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born on March 12, 1922 to the late Noah and Ollie Martin Snyder.  In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Nave Snyder, who passed away on January 23, 2012; sisters:  Eureka Grindstaff and Susie Kimberlin and brothers:  Martin Snyder, D.L. Snyder, Robert Snyder and Sanford Snyder.   Like most men of his generation, Alex was a proud American Farmer but his true love was carpentry work. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and TN Vols fan.   Alex loved his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren beyond measure and he always had time for his family.   He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.   Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Kathy Greever; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Helen Snyder, all of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Amanda Greever of Louisville, TN, Chad Greever and wife Amber, Tracy Snyder and wife Wendy, all of Mountain City, TN and Rebekah Davenport and husband Charles of Beaumont, TX; great grandchildren:  Trey Snyder and Emily Snyder; several cousins, nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Jim Norman, Steven Spencer and Bill Worley officiating. Special music will be provided by the Church Choir.  Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Chad Greever, Tracy Snyder, Larry Snyder, Rick Moore, Larry Wilson and Kenneth Roman.  Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Griffith, Bill Wilson, Melvin Humphrey, Jerry Grindstaff, Blake Atwood, and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Mens Sunday School Class.
