Ethel R. Woods

Ethel R. Woods, age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on March 19, 1927 to the late Johnny and Maude Arnold Slimp. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her grandson, David Mullis; great grandchild, Daniel Mullis; brothers: Earl, Bascom, and Ray Slemp.   Ethel was a wonderful, kind, generous, and caring lady who made everyone feel most important. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and her church family. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and loved her pets.   She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.   Ethel is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Eller and husband Danny; sisters: Mary Cornett and Nell May; grandchildren: Kevin Mullis and Chequita Meade Gorman and husband Peter; great grandchildren: Johnathan and wife Jessica, Angel, Jessica and Christian; great-great grandchildren: Gabe, Tyler, Javon, Collin and Chloe; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.   The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastors Steven Spencer, Chuck Morefield and Shannon Courtner officiating. Special music will be provided by the Calvary Baptist Church Choir. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Slemp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick May, Terry Slemp, Lee Farley, Kenneth Johnson, Clint Dunn and Charlie Morefield. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Farley, Willie Arnold, Rev. Russell Ward, Jimmy Tester and Ben May.   At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Carolyn & Danny Eller, 244 W.E.
