Ira McClellan Blevins Sr.

Ira McClellan Blevins Sr., age 79, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, September 08, 2016 at the Grace Healthcare of Abingdon, VA. He was born on July 17, 1937 to the late Ulysses McClellan and Katherine Elizabeth McDaniel Blevins. In addition to his parents, Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Jackson Blevins; son, Ira McClellan Blevins Jr.; sisters: Mary, Ann, Nannie and Sarah; brothers: Lawrence, Raymond, Harley, Clarence, Frank and Leonard.   Ira was a former employee for the Town of Damascus, where he worked in the Maintenance Department for 18 years.   Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters: Kimberly Gorsline and husband Steve and Elizabeth Waddell and husband James; brother, Ed Blevins and wife Betty; grandchildren: Kenneth, Christopher, Nicole, Matthew, Shae and Michael; great grandchildren: Carsen, Hayden and Brianna; several cousins, nieces and nephews.   A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Azen Baptist Church of Konnarock, VA with Pastor Jimmy Lundy officiating.  Music will be provided by the Church Choir.
