Barry Dwain Franklin Fortner of Mountain City, TN age 59, passed away on Sunday December 18, 2016 at the Mountain City Care Center of Mountain City, TN. He was born on September 29, 1957 in Jennersville, PA to the late William Dwain Fortner and Geniva Robinson Hurd. In addition to his parents Barry was preceded in death by the love of his life… Joan Alice Fortner; a grandson Thomas J. Cox Fortner; a sister Betty Sue Callahan; as well as two brothers Randy Towler and Banney Fortner. Barry was a member of Elk Creek Christian Fellowship Church. Those left to cherish his memories include his step-mother Martha Hall and husband Phillip; son Barry W. Fortner and fiancé’ Sondra Ricker; sisters: Brenda Jean Mains and husband Edward Mains Sr., Beverly Utt and husband Bobby, Tammy Tabor and Bonnie Osborne; brothers: Ricky Fortner, William Towler and wife Sally and Jason Towler; grandchildren Jacob and Jayden Fortner of Greene Co., TN along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Mountain City Care Center & Rehab nursing staff for being so warm hearted and caring for Barry during his time and stay throughout his illness. A special thanks to the Kitchen staff as well for all the Love they have showed to Barry and his family.
