Lena Kate Miller, age 91, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on September 18, 1925 to the late John Edward Gentry and Cordia Elizabeth Potter Gentry. In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Glenn Miller; daughter, Pamela L. Holland; sisters: Verna M. Nichols and Mayme L. Gentry; brothers: Conley A. Gentry, Kyle Gentry, Walter W. Gentry and Fred Gentry. Kate attended First Christian Church of Mountain City, TN and was a member of Bethel Assembly of God and Calvary Assembly of God of Flint, Michigan where she served as Secretary and Treasury for over 40 years. Kate enjoyed sewing and quilting and has made many beautiful quilts throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed cooking large meals for her family and friends. Kate enjoyed music, especially southern gospel music. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter and son-in-law, Starla and Pete Brooks of Mountain City, TN; son-in-law, Mark Holland and wife Elizabeth of Mountain City, TN; sister, Betty Ann Gentry Razor of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Micah G. Brooks, Amber E. Brooks Greever and husband Chad, Mark A. Holland II and wife Amanda and William P. Holland; great grandchildren: Katelin N. Brooks, Hannah N. Brooks, Brooke H. Holland and Luke A. Holland; special friend, Ellen Carpenter of Flint, MI and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Dickson and Associate Pastor James Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Crestwood Memorial Cemetery located in Flint, Michigan. Pallbearers will be Micah Brooks, William Holland, Chad Greever, Mark Holland, William Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Holland II and Elders and Deacons of First Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, 401 W. Main Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
