Kenneth Dean Phillips, age 51, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1965 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Betty Coleman Phillips and the late Kenneth Mount Phillips. Kenneth was a gifted guitar player and singer. His primary interest was music, especially Bluegrass. He was a very kind, generous, caring man who had never met a stranger. Kenneth was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord and Savior. Those left to cherish his memories in addition to his mother Betty, include his step-father, Charlie Horne; sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Rick Roberts; brothers and sister-in-law, Darren Phillips and Donny and Marcy Phillips; nieces and nephew: Crystal Powers, Molly Phillips, Danny Cornett, Lauren Phillips and Abby Phillips; great nephew: James Powers and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services for Kenneth will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Shannon Courtner officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Phillips Cemetery, located on Sandy Road. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
