Rebecca 'Becky' Christine Dunn Cress

Rebecca "Becky" Christine Dunn Cress, age 46, of Shingletown Road, Mountain City, TN passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, March 18, 2017 of heart failure. She was the fiance of David Charles Fritts. Her first husband was Jamie Lynn Cress for 18 years. Born in Watauga Co, NC, she was daughter of the James D Dunn and Rita C Blankenship Dunn of Forge Creek, Mountain City, TN. and Grundy VA respectively.  She was a waitress, dental assistant, teacher assistant, 911 dispatcher, Red Cross volunteer and mother during phases of her life.  Becky was an avid rescuer of pets, never met a stranger, friend to any that needed it, and an prolific photographer.  She was a member of Liberty Christian Church.  Becky was preceded in death by her father James D Dunn, Grandfather Wade Dunn, and grandmother Irene Johnson Dunn of Forge Creek. Grandfather Noah Blankenship and grandmother Emily Owens Blankenship of Buchanan Co VA.  Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters Brianna (age 14) and Savanna (age 17) Cress, mother Rita Dunn Richardson, stepfather Otis Richardson, brother and his wife Victor and Linda Phillippi Dunn, pending step children Brittany Dunn, Auston Dunn and Dade Fritts.  The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Steven Earl Phillippi to officiate.  Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Phillippi Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Victor Dunn, David Fritts, Jamie Cress, Otis Richardson, Tim Horne and Steve Frantz.  Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
