Bennett Capps

Bennett Gladson Capps, 64, went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2017 at the Elizabeth House of Hendersonville, NC after a brief illness. Born and raised in Zirconia, NC, he recently moved and currently resided in Mountain City, TN. He worked as a tool and die maker at General Electric for 36 years. He also loved his life as a farmer. He was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Gladson Capps and Bertha Ballard Capps of Zirconia, NC and one grandson, Christopher Bennett Capps, also of Zirconia. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Dotson Capps of Mountain City, TN, two amazing children, a daughter, Stacy Capps Nix and her husband, Travis W. Nix of Edneyville, NC and a son, John Bennett (Ben) Capps and his wife Christy Kelly Capps of Zirconia, NC.  He loved and adored his 4 granddaughters, Dena Nix of Edneyville, Brooke Capps Norville and her husband, Andrew of Rutherfordton, NC, Kelly Capps of Zirconia and Ella Capps also of Zirconia.  He was looking forward to meeting his new grandson, Billy, due to arrive in June.  Bennett also has one brother, Rev. Bobby Capps and his wife, Lynn, a sister, Lynn Capps Osteen and her husband, Curtis, and a sister, Millie Capps Campbell and her husband, Rev. Ricky of Mountain City, TN. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at Mud Creek Baptist Church, 403 Rutledge Drive, Hendersonville, NC with a service immediately following. The Reverends Dr. Greg T Mathis, Bobby Capps, Ricky Campbell and Dan Blackwell will officiate.   Burial will be at the McDowell Cemetery on Rock Creek Road, Zirconia, NC.   Pallbearers are Ben Capps, Travis Nix, Michael Capps, Aaron Maybin, William Yoder, Norman Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amedisys Foundation, 1500 West Elk Avenue, Suite 122, Elizabethton, TN, 37643 or to Four Seasons Compassion For Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC, 28731. We would like to thank them for their extraordinary care of our loved one. We would also like to thank each and everyone of you for your outpouring love, support and prayers for us during this difficult journey. We have the most amazing family and friends. Words cannot begin to express our gratitude. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Homer and Terry Maybin. The family of Bennett Gladson Capps has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
