J. Scotty Blevins

Scotty Blevins, age 41, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017.   He was born on March 25, 1976 in Jefferson, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Anthony Blevins; maternal grandpa, Dewey Paul Vanover and his step grandpa, Max Lewis. Scotty brought joy and happiness to his family and friends and always put a smile on everyone’s face.  He and his Mom had a very special bond and were best friends from day one.  He loved frisbees and had a large collection of them that he was very proud of.  He was a joker also and loved locking people’s car doors- bonus points if your keys were in there. He loved tickling people’s feet but loved for you to tickle his more. Scotty loved playing basketball, and participating in the Special Olympics every year.  He also had a love for music and enjoyed playing the keyboards.  Scotty adored going to work at Watauga Opportunities and worshiping at Ashe County Worship Center. Those left to cherish his memories include his mom and step-dad, Marlene Lewis and Tim Lewis of Creston, NC; sister, Sierra Aldridge and husband Brian of Johnson City, TN; aunt, Ginger Martin and fiancé, Kevin Goode of Raleigh, NC; maternal grandma, Ellaree Vanover; step grandma, Virginia Lewis; his many special friends and co-workers at Watauga Opportunity. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Ashe County Worship Center, located at 863 Ray Taylor Road, West Jefferson, NC.  Funeral service will follow with Pastor Chuck Call officiating.  Special music will be provided by the Worship Center.  Graveside service and interment will follow at the Vanover Cemetery.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 1050 Pine Mountain Road, Creston, NC. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com.
