Hugh T. Wallace, age 75, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 31, 1941 to the late George T. Wallace and Marie Lacks Wallace. Hugh started working in the shoe manufacturing industry around 1960 and continued for 56 years, eventually co-owning and operating his own shoe business. Like most men of his generation, Hugh was also a proud farmer. He loved shoemaking and farming and continued doing both until his health declined. Hugh also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 30 years, Judy Wallace; children: Chris T. Wallace and Crystal Wallace Carper; sister, Gladys Wilkerson and husband Mike; special mother-in-law, Olive Johnson; many more special family members, friends and neighbors. Funeral service for Hugh will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Homer Vanover and Pastor Ricky Campbell officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Eller, Michael Eller, Aaron Gregg, Eric Potter, Brad Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Scott Johnson, Adam Johnson, JR Johnson, Jarrett Lunceford and Chris Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Eller and Mike Hensley. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
