Janice R. Mahala

Janice Lee Roark Mahala, age 79, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017.  She was born on March 30, 1938 to the late Furman and Faye Price Roark.  In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Roark and son-in-law, Tom Trivette. Janice was a loving wife and mother.  She deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.  Janice also loved her church family and enjoyed going to church at Baptist Home on Roundabout, where she was also a member.  She was always reading and studying her Bible. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 58 years, James Dewey Mahala; daughters:  Jennifer Trivette and Shannon Milam; sons:  Ronald Mahala and wife Janice, Tim Mahala and wife Tammy, Kenny Mahala, Randall Mahala and wife Lisa, Kyle Mahala and Shane Mahala; brothers:  J.E. Roark, Harold Dean Roark and Jerold Roark; grandchildren:  Josh Mahala, Jared Mahala, D.J. Mahala, Brianna Bledsoe, Ashley Jones, Apryl Mahala, Aaryn Pace, Cole Trivette, Stephanie Hayes, Rachel Trivett, Chelsea Hefner, Brittney Mahala, Courtney Mahala, Nicholas Mahala, Christopher Mahala, Michael Mahala; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special dogs, Princess and Little Bit. Private family services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Baptist Home located on Roundabout, Creston, NC with Brother Dave Benfield officiating.  Interment will follow at the Roark Family Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Josh Mahala, Jared Mahala, DJ Mahala, Nicholas Mahala, Christopher Mahala, Michael Mahala and Cole Trivette. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family or Mountain City Funeral Home to assist with final expenses. At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 868 Rock Creek Road, Creston, NC.
