Phyllis J. Walls

Phyllis Walls, age 72, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 13, 1944 to the late Hobart and Ruby Daughterly Arnold.  In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Greer and brother, James Arnold. Phyllis was a gifted quilter and has made many beautiful and cherished quilts for her family and friends during the years.  She enjoyed cooking and fed her family a home cooked meal every Sunday after church.  Phyllis also enjoyed gardening and flowers.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 54 years, Toby Walls; children:  Debbie Osborne of Green Cove, VA, John Walls and wife Sandra of Widners Valley, VA, Tony Walls and wife Roberta of Laurel Bloomery, TN, Eddie Walls and wife Melinda of Green Cove, VA and Steve Walls and wife Mary of Fancy Gap, VA; sisters:  Ann Lewis of Bristol, VA, Mary Lewis and husband Dill of Mountain City, TN, Margaret Dry of Kennett Square, PA and Martha Dowel and husband Barry of Independence, VA; brother, John Arnold and wife Kathy of Mountain City, TN; half- sister, Peggy Nichols; half- brothers:  Noah Arnold, David Arnold, Glen Arnold; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Green Cove Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m .with Rev. Leonard Tenney and Seth Walls officiating.  Special music will be provided by Rev. John Server and Middlefork Gospel.  Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Green Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Bill Wilson, Logan Walls, Seth Walls, Justin Walls, Michael Evans and James Grubb.  Honorary pallbearers are all of Phyllis’ special friends.
