Richard Lewis

Richard Lewis, age 72, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, NC.  He was born on February 16, 1945 to the late James and Pearl Welch Lewis.  In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Alan Lewis; grandchild, Brad Lewis and brother-in-law, Thomas McFarland. Richard was a Christian who lived his life serving the Lord Jesus Christ.  He was a member of Heavenly Light Baptist Church. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved his family, children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 52 years Rosemary Lewis; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Red Jordan; sister and brother-in-law, Mattie Cross and husband Eddie; brothers and sisters-in-laws:  Dennis and Hazel Lewis and Willard and Carol Lewis of Oxford, PA; brother-in-law, James and Linda McFarland of Gordonville, PA; grandchildren:  Jeffrey Lewis and wife Bridgette and Gary Evans; great grandchildren:  Autumn Shepherd, Ian Lewis, Paislee Evans and Violet Evans; special friends, Wiley Thomas and Buck Kirby; several special nieces and nephews and many more special friends. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Steele and Michael ‘Red’ Jordan officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Reece Memorial Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Buck Kirby, Wiley Thomas, Robbie Brown, Jeff Brown, Gary Stout and Jesse Cross.  Honorary pallbearers are Tom Horne, Bob Forrester, and Employees of Mountain View Service Station. Richard supported the Gideons and their cause throughout his life.  His family would appreciate in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The Gideons, PO Box 155, Mountain City, TN 37683 At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 3773 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, TN Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com.
