James William Winters, age 73, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord at his home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He was born on April 16, 1944 to the late James and Pearl Parsons Winters. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Johnson Winters; infant grandchildren: Leslie King and Kasey Little; brother-in-law, Layton Dollar and sister- in-law, Betty Jo Fritts. He was a United States Veteran, having honorably served in the Army. He was a life-long truck driver and member of First Freewill Baptist Church. He loved watching Nascar, especially Jeff Gordon and was an antique car enthusiast who enjoyed going to car shows. James enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. Those left to cherish his memories include his children: Susan Williams and husband Mack, Tami Little and husband Kyle, Crystal Winters and husband Gary McElyea, Dean Heaton, Jamie Winters and wife Suzie; sisters: Barbara Miller and husband Lane, Mary Dollar, Linda Blevins and husband Gerald and Nancy Tyner and husband Lacy; brothers: Clint Winters and wife Debbie, Bruce Winters and wife Kathy and Mike Winters and fiancé Sheila Tester; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Mabe; brother-in-law, Paul E. Johnson; special friends: Dick Jenkins, John Holloway and Lisa Burrow and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Poe officiating. Graveside service and interment with military honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow at the Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary McElyea, Mack Williams, Dakota Swift, Seth Little, Jerry Cress, and Dillon Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Pardue and Kyle Little. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Malien Rogers and nursing staff, Brenda Reece personal assistant with Helping Hands, niece Peggy Humphrey and Flo Bellamy and Johnson County Cancer Support Group.
