Darla Jean Evans

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PLACE OF SERVICE IN TENNESSEE HAS CHANGED Darla Jean Evans, 68, of Providence, KY passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Baptist Health Madisonville. She was born on September 24, 1949 in Mountain City, TN to the late Mary Brookie Sluder and Joseph Carl Sluder. Darla was employed with the Hopkins County Board of Education as bus driver for twenty-five years. She enjoyed traveling with her sister and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Providence Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Michelle (Mitch) Lander of Hanson, KY and Amanda Brooke Jordan of Okinawa, Japan; son, Michael Simcox of Rabbit Ridge, KY; step-daughter, Susan (Gary) Ritchie of Damascus, VA; granddaughter, Kellie Lander of Beulah, KY; grandsons, Cody (Tyler) Lander of Earlington, KY, Keith Simcox, Brian Simcox both of Dalton, KY, Seth Ritchie of Damascus, VA and Evan Ritchie of Damascus, VA; two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11-1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Tracy Dugger and Pastor Chip Palmer officiating.  Burial to follow at Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley, TN. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, Kentucky.
