Leavie L. Arnold, age 85, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1932 in Shouns, TN to the late Kelly Arnold and Cliffie Phillips Arnold. In addition to his parents Leavie was preceded in death by sisters, Rena Brown, Hester Snyder and Nell Galliher, brothers, Emmitt Arnold and Fayette Arnold. Leavie had worked as a salesman and was known as a farmer for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran as was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joann Joines Arnold, two daughters; Brenda Potter and husband Larry, Teresa Brooks and husband Charles, one son, Van Arnold and wife Karla, three grandchildren; Phillip Potter and wife Meredith, Charly Brooks Little and husband Ryan and Titus Brooks, two great grandchildren; Evan Potter and Grace Potter, sisters; June Smith of Bristol, VA, Alice Vean Reynolds of Charlotte, NC, LulaBell Wallace of Essex, MD and Inez Wallace of Zionville, NC, brothers; Dean Arnold and Danny Arnold and wife Charlotte of Mountain City, TN several nieces and nephews.The family would like to give a special thanks to Charlotte Arnold for her dedicated caregiving during his illness.The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Steven Spencer, Pastor Charles Brooks and Grandson Phillip Potter to officiate. Pallbearers will be Scott Arnold, Jamie Eggers, Ryan Little, Larry Potter, Edward Dean Reynolds, Frankie Smith, Chad Joines, Phillip Potter and Titus Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Arnold, Charlie Joines, Herbert Joines, J.R. Arnold, Earl Arnold, Ronnie Arnold, Red Stevens and Wayne Stevens. Graveside service and burial will follow at Reece Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 3541 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN.Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com.
