Virginia S Lewis

Virginia Shirley Potter Lewis, age 77, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born October 29, 1940 in Boone, North Carolina to the late Grady and Arabelle Main Potter.  In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Max Darl Lewis; brothers, George M. Potter and Cecil Potter. Virginia loved to raise a garden and enjoyed cooking and canning.  She was a very loving person who was always helping other and those in need.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.  Her family was her life and it filled her heart to care for them. Virginia was a God fearing woman.  She was a member of Elk Knob Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters:  Darlene Eller and companion Doyle Stephens and Roxanne Lewis, Billy Eller son-in-law; sons:  David Lewis and wife Ann, Timothy Lewis and companion Sonya Nelson and Darren Lewis; sisters:  Carolyn Winkler and Phyllis Miller and husband Jeff; brother, Austin Potter; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with James Henson, Tom Stephens and Alan Younce officiating.  Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Lewis Cemetery, Creston, North Carolina.  Pallbearers will be David Lewis, Timothy Lewis, Doyle Stephens, Michael Latham, Kristopher Eller, Patrick Eller, Billy Eller and Justin Latham.  Family, pallbearers and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:00 to go in procession to the cemetery. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Michael and Vanessa Latham, 453 Baldwin Gap Road, Zionville, NC 28698.
