Ella Ree Vanover, age 79, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at The Foley Center of Blowing Rock North Carolina. She was born on November 13, 1938 to the late Rudy and Danford Graybeal Pennington. In addition to her parents, Ella Ree was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Paul Vanover; special grandson, Scotty Blevins; sisters: Iva Lee Smithy, Pauline Mahaffey, baby Joyce Ann; brothers: Ralph Pennington, Earnest Pennington and Hub Pennington. She loved going to church and through the years had attended Rock Creek Baptist Church and Pine Mountain Baptist Church. Ella Ree was a gifted quilter and had made many beautiful quilts through the years. She loved to play Bingo, especially with her friends at The Foley Center. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters: Marlene Lewis and Ginger Goode and husband Kevin; granddaughter, Sierra Aldridge and husband Brian; sisters: Norma Wade, Barbara Roark, Margaret Lipford; brothers: Clyde Pennington and Tom Pennington; several nieces and nephews and her many friends at The Foley Center. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Rock Creek Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Anthony Roark and Tommy Worth officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Vanover Family Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff of The Foley Center for taking such wonderful care of Ella Ree for the past two and a half years.
